10 more minutes

March 8th, 2009

Do you feel like somehow everything in the world is related?? No? Then you will see how it really is. And people didn’t believe me… Anyhow, I should tell you something. The quality and montage is not the best here, but there are some good sides. First, it is a very good idea. I rarely find a short film with such a good idea. Secondly, actors are not so bad. And finally, you can easy live up into this film. It can suck you in just like that. Again, I must tell you who made this film: director of photography/color Grader
Karl Emmett; camera operator - Sean McDermott; first ad - Troy Fleming and Cast: Raj Krishnan; Homeless Man -Tristan McKinnon; Danny - Naomi White; Liz - Eli Saad. So, all I left to do is just add, that it is independent amateurish short film. Enjoy.

Description: A short film, which shows how a persons’ destiny can be decided by just a few dollars and just a few minutes.

What if in this life…

March 2nd, 2009

A short film about having a power and not using it for bad purpose, or for your own wealth. It’s about getting something you deserved from destiny, because ‘he’ owed something to you for making your life awfully miserable. It’s like a Gods job, that he gave it so someone who was least expected. It’s making person special, when others think he’s trash. A short film, which shows how miracles really work. I like that film is pretty dark. I really like directors’ point of view. However, it’s for you to decide how good this short is. A short film directed by Otis Mannick now for your judgment.

Description: Awoken from the recent grips of death, a homeless man finds himself with a gift passed on from another. A chance to affect; a chance to inspire; a chance to change the world around him. He walks threw each experience seemingly unscathed by the attacks, all the while providing safety for those he encounters. In the end there is but one thing left to give…that which he unknowingly received himself.
What if in this life people cared?
What if in this life people fought?
What if in this life…?

Different

February 28th, 2009

Have you ever felt different? I know I did. I mean, in any kind of way – different religion, different clothing, and different sexual orientation? Did it make it hart for you to fit in with others? This time a short film is about being different, when you don’t want to be. It’s about a person, who feels that he was born not in the right body. A man feels like a woman. Don’t you think it is the worst feeling in the world? I bet it is. Anyways, I think people should know, what is about this bad ‘don’t fit’ feeling. That’s why I put this short film here. And this time it’s not for your enjoyment, it’s for the purpose to broaden your mind. I hope your understanding and empathy

Description: A short film about feeling like you don’t fit in. About getting bored of your pointless file. About finding ‘the easiest way’.

The streets

February 26th, 2009

Now I know, we have a lack of documentary short here, in our page. But I have founded one very perfect. It is perfect, because the whole film is not acting. The whole crew actually followed a homeless man and filmed his day life. Yes, it’s a short film about homelessness. I think it’s pretty cool that you can actually see how hard is to live in the streets and how cruelly people react when they see a homeless person. It’s a short film made in 24 hours for the shelter society project and was nominated as the first place and the best film. Anyways, some people in this society level choose different role – they start taking drugs, committing crimes, or even murders. Today I am kind of proud to show a short film like this. Hope you’ll enjoy.

Description: A short film shows a small part of a life of a homeless man living in Edinburgh and also the way people think about homelessness. It is homeless mans point of view this time.

Fast Reward

February 22nd, 2009

Now this short film left me with a question symbol in my head. I mean, I understand that it’s about homosexual, but the meaning… I don’t know. Maybe it’s one of those films, which you have to watch couple times to understand everything from beginning till the end. Maybe the director wanted to show how can life run away from you and leave you without ‘love’. This you will have to figure out yourself. Tell me as soon as you will find out. Now, what I founded out about a short film is that it was made in Belgium, 2004. The name of the film director in under the post. What’s more I could tell? Maybe, guys don’t watch it. I know, you don’t like such things… But as far as I remember there’s no ‘came outs’. Enjoy.

Description: A short film is about a guy, whose all life went by in a gay bar. Maybe to reveal himself as a homosexual wasn’t such a good idea?

Skin deep

February 18th, 2009

I like short films that analyses deeper problems of our society. One of those problems is mental disorder. One of the most common mental disorders is schizophrenia. One or the other form of it can cause a lot of misunderstanding, misbehaving or other problems with family, friends and etc. A short film, that we have here shows everything, what I’ve been talking earlier in this post. Again, it’s two-part-film. Both parts are in this post. I’ve managed to find out that this film is shown like prevention against racism, self injuring and people, who are indifferent. If you’re interested, more information is on www.selfharmony.co.uk website. Also, this film was nominated in BAFTA short film festival.

Description: A short film, which shows that racism and prejudice is the main cause of mental health problems amongst minorities. A short film, which shows the suffering of victim with mental disorder.

Take Two

February 16th, 2009

Now, have you ever done everything to stop ‘the evil’? A short film like this represents what happens, when you simply can’t stop someone of doing something inappropriate. This is the worst thing in whole world, when you want to help, but you are too afraid or you’re just too weak to do something. All I managed to find out was that this film is made by a student. And that means it’s pretty experimental. But, quality is unbelievable high, so that makes me proud, that students can find support from studios by themselves. Also, I should comment a short film idea. As for a short film, it’s quite unusual. I think I have seen some ‘full meter’ movies, that has the same idea, but that’s not the point. With this theme it’s hard to fit in 7 minutes, I think. Anyways, the result is good.

Description:  A short film story is about a guy who saw an incident of robbery. Then he ran away because he is too afraid to help, or to call help. And day by day he sees the incident again and again. And this drives him into madness.

The Suicide

February 10th, 2009

I have never put here two parts short film yet. But now I have one just like that. I wanted to show a short film such like this for a long time. I should say that this short is not really about suicide in my opinion. It’s more like about love. And some things here may shock you. I know they shocked me. And some things are not understandable here for me. Maybe they never will be. On the simplest level “The Suicide” is a tale of the victory of love and spirit over ego and superficiality - of compassion over material obsession; about purity in the face of death and the salvation of love. Jeff Markey, a remarkable actor, is superb in this tale which is based on Bukowski’s short story. All the more remarkable because Markey directed and wrote the piece as well. These are the words of Paul Williams Director/Producer and a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. A short film for your judgment.

Description: Main actor breaks our notions of what is cool in our advertising/media dominated world and what is expected of beauty and discovers something within him, he never knew he had. His discovery brings us to tears.. One of the most moving and excellent short films to come along in a long time–and when it is most needed as this world degenerates into surface, posing, materialism and hatred… a flower grows.

Replay

February 9th, 2009

A short film that I found interesting. Now it tells a story. Maybe casual, as we can see a lot murders on TV. But not homicide is interesting here. A short film story is told from the end to the beginning. Different than in the others, I should say. And who could think that a short film story like this could be so attractive. Now I have not found some special information about this short. But I can tell you, that a short film is directed by Ranjan Shetty and authors are Gaurav Nanda and Lianne Taxeira. That’s a pity that I could not find out more information about a short film.

Description: Simple story of a man killing his wife and committing suicide because his wife was cheating on him. But the way it is represented is amazing. The full film runs in reverse so, I think its name should be rewind.

The Job

February 8th, 2009

A short film directly connected to true life. Just visa versa. Basically a short film like this shows what is happening to the world. I mean, I remember the times when poor people were waiting for a job. And this short just shows that position. I probably should thank the director, because it’s a rare thing that a short film can really open people’s eyes. And I think that by watching this short film, you should look deeper into idea. Now, earlier I was writing only my opinion and description about a short film that you were about to watch. But now I will put some more information. About short films winnings and so on. So about this short: ‘The Job was created by Screaming Frog Productions. Written & Directed by Jonathan Browning and acted & crewed by some of the most amazing people on the planet!’ says the owner of a short film. ‘The Job has played at over 125 international film festivals and has been honored with 28 awards.’

Description: Do you remember a view from old movies, when rich person comes to a field where potential employees are waiting for a job? Now here, a short film shows the same situation. Just different time, with different people.
