The Suicide
February 10th, 2009
I have never put here two parts short film yet. But now I have one just like that. I wanted to show a short film such like this for a long time. I should say that this short is not really about suicide in my opinion. It’s more like about love. And some things here may shock you. I know they shocked me. And some things are not understandable here for me. Maybe they never will be. On the simplest level “The Suicide” is a tale of the victory of love and spirit over ego and superficiality - of compassion over material obsession; about purity in the face of death and the salvation of love. Jeff Markey, a remarkable actor, is superb in this tale which is based on Bukowski’s short story. All the more remarkable because Markey directed and wrote the piece as well. These are the words of Paul Williams Director/Producer and a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. A short film for your judgment.
Description: Main actor breaks our notions of what is cool in our advertising/media dominated world and what is expected of beauty and discovers something within him, he never knew he had. His discovery brings us to tears.. One of the most moving and excellent short films to come along in a long time–and when it is most needed as this world degenerates into surface, posing, materialism and hatred… a flower grows.
