Take Two

February 16th, 2009

Now, have you ever done everything to stop ‘the evil’? A short film like this represents what happens, when you simply can’t stop someone of doing something inappropriate. This is the worst thing in whole world, when you want to help, but you are too afraid or you’re just too weak to do something. All I managed to find out was that this film is made by a student. And that means it’s pretty experimental. But, quality is unbelievable high, so that makes me proud, that students can find support from studios by themselves. Also, I should comment a short film idea. As for a short film, it’s quite unusual. I think I have seen some ‘full meter’ movies, that has the same idea, but that’s not the point. With this theme it’s hard to fit in 7 minutes, I think. Anyways, the result is good.

Description:  A short film story is about a guy who saw an incident of robbery. Then he ran away because he is too afraid to help, or to call help. And day by day he sees the incident again and again. And this drives him into madness.

The Insane

February 14th, 2009

Another short horror movie. And quite scary, I should say. Anyways, sometimes it’s surprising for me how a short film can be that good. Well, this has a strong story line over here. I enjoyed watching it and I know you will enjoy too. Also I appreciate the quality of a short film. This one has it. As far as I know, this short movie has won best horror/suspense short at the 2008 Comic-con. This may prove that a short film is worth of watching. The thing I didn’t really enjoy was cruelty and the ‘what’s right’ point of view. But still you have to watch a short film by yourself.

Description: John Vincent is a cop on a quest for vengeance. After finding his wife murdered in his own home, he decides to dispense justice on the murderous psycho’s who have destroyed his life. Armed with only a crowbar and his wits, John takes to the city streets and takes out the insane maniacs.

Kiwi!

A short animated film. I decided that it’s more that enough films about serious things. Sometimes we have to chill. And this short film suites perfectly. What I like about this short is the thought that is brought up so nicely in all picture. Also I should tell some good words about graphics. This short film is made by student, who was attending The School of Visual Arts in New York. It’s my dream place to study animation too. I found some author words about this short movie: ‘My Master’s Thesis Animation, which I completed while I was at The School of Visual Arts, MFA Computer Art, in New York City. Created using Maya, After Effects, and rigged using The Setup Machine by Anzovin studios.’ The music is original and is by Tim Cassell.

Description: A short film story is about a bird, which can’t fly. And even if you can’t fly, there is always a possibility ‘to fly’. You’ll see what I mean. Enjoy a short film.

The Suicide

February 10th, 2009

I have never put here two parts short film yet. But now I have one just like that. I wanted to show a short film such like this for a long time. I should say that this short is not really about suicide in my opinion. It’s more like about love. And some things here may shock you. I know they shocked me. And some things are not understandable here for me. Maybe they never will be. On the simplest level “The Suicide” is a tale of the victory of love and spirit over ego and superficiality - of compassion over material obsession; about purity in the face of death and the salvation of love. Jeff Markey, a remarkable actor, is superb in this tale which is based on Bukowski’s short story. All the more remarkable because Markey directed and wrote the piece as well. These are the words of Paul Williams Director/Producer and a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. A short film for your judgment.

Description: Main actor breaks our notions of what is cool in our advertising/media dominated world and what is expected of beauty and discovers something within him, he never knew he had. His discovery brings us to tears.. One of the most moving and excellent short films to come along in a long time–and when it is most needed as this world degenerates into surface, posing, materialism and hatred… a flower grows.

Replay

A short film that I found interesting. Now it tells a story. Maybe casual, as we can see a lot murders on TV. But not homicide is interesting here. A short film story is told from the end to the beginning. Different than in the others, I should say. And who could think that a short film story like this could be so attractive. Now I have not found some special information about this short. But I can tell you, that a short film is directed by Ranjan Shetty and authors are Gaurav Nanda and Lianne Taxeira. That’s a pity that I could not find out more information about a short film.

Description: Simple story of a man killing his wife and committing suicide because his wife was cheating on him. But the way it is represented is amazing. The full film runs in reverse so, I think its name should be rewind.

The Job

February 8th, 2009

A short film directly connected to true life. Just visa versa. Basically a short film like this shows what is happening to the world. I mean, I remember the times when poor people were waiting for a job. And this short just shows that position. I probably should thank the director, because it’s a rare thing that a short film can really open people’s eyes. And I think that by watching this short film, you should look deeper into idea. Now, earlier I was writing only my opinion and description about a short film that you were about to watch. But now I will put some more information. About short films winnings and so on. So about this short: ‘The Job was created by Screaming Frog Productions. Written & Directed by Jonathan Browning and acted & crewed by some of the most amazing people on the planet!’ says the owner of a short film. ‘The Job has played at over 125 international film festivals and has been honored with 28 awards.’

Description: Do you remember a view from old movies, when rich person comes to a field where potential employees are waiting for a job? Now here, a short film shows the same situation. Just different time, with different people.

The Rapture

February 7th, 2009

Now this short film here is a mystery for me. Here we’ll face a kidnapping problem. Kidnappers are real strangers to me, you’ll se them. And we have some sort of an angel here. This part is Comical, in my opinion. Anyways, maybe you’ll understand ‘what for?’ or ‘why?’. Good luck.

Description: An angel saves a kidnapped girl from three masked men. But before that, you have to see what kind of men they are.

Backwards

February 6th, 2009

From time to time I face some good idea dilettantes’ short films. Their quality is far from good, but somehow they can interest me. And this time we have here experimental short film. I liked how everything was put up together. Sometimes you just have to love these kinds of films, although camera is a little shaky and montage looks funny.

Description:  A normal day’s activities, backwards including: card tricks, sleight of hand, fire, and sandwich consumption.

Career suicide

February 5th, 2009

Sometimes people work so hard and so much, that for them it feels like they’re already dead. But when you are REALLY dead? It seems like after death you have to work as well. And people say, I will rest when I’ll be dead. Not going to work out with that.

Description: After death women gets… No, not to the heaven. To office. Where she has to work again. Ridicules.

Hallway

February 4th, 2009

Another short horror film. Somehow I like them. They don’t scare you that much, but still are impressing. This time it’s almost the same scene as in all horror movies. You see someone’s about to get you and you can’t open the God damn door.

Description: A killer wants to kill a girl. First he kills her boyfriend. Than he gets her. But easy catch is not what he wants.
